This is a collection of organ music by mainly German composers from Johann Bernhard Bach (1676-1749, great-grandfather and cousin of the great Bach) to Mendelssohn. The collection includes works by Bach, who was born in Eisenach, and Handel, who was born in Halle, as well as works by Haydn and Vivaldi, with whom there is no direct relationship. The organ is a 1735 Georg Theodor Kloss organ from the church of St. Magdalene in Langenbogen, a village near Halle, and was restored in the 21st century. It has a wonderful period flavor that is quite different from that of modern hall organs or modern large church organs. Thomas Ennenbach, born in Rudolfstadt, Germany in 1963, has served as cantor of the Halle-Naumburg congregation since 1999, and was later promoted to director of church music.
