Original version of Beethoven's Violin Concerto! World premiere recording by Anton Steck, a master of ancient instruments! Beethoven's Violin Concerto is now as popular as the Violin Concertos of Mendelssohn, Tchaikovsky, and Brahms, but at the time of its premiere in 1806, the response from the audience was said to be rather cool. It was not until the London premiere in 1844, 40 years after its premiere, with Joseph Joachim conducting Mendelssohn solo, that the piece gained acceptance. Perhaps influenced by the appreciation of the premiere, Beethoven revised the solo violin part, and this is the version we hear today. The date of composition and the involvement of Franz Clement in the solo part of Beethoven's Violin Concerto have been the subject of much speculation, but research into the ink and other materials used in its composition is beginning to clarify the process of composition.And now Anton Steck, a master of the ancient instrument, has decided to record the first draft version. In addition, on this album, Steck also makes the world premiere recording of the violin concerto by Beethoven's friend, the Viennese violinist and arranger Franz Alexander Pessinger. Pessinger's work was written a year before Beethoven's violin concerto. Pessinger is also said to have been involved in the revision of the solo part of Beethoven's concerto. King International
