Description:
The second collection of Jezualdo's madrigales by Les Arts Florissants! This is the second collection of Jezualdo's madrigale by Paul Agnew, co-conductor of Les Arts Florissants. Jesuardo, born around 1560 as a nobleman of noble birth in the kingdom of Naples, Italy, was the last composer of Italian madrigale. He married at the age of 20, but the murder of his wife and mistress cast a dark shadow over his life. In 1594 (around the age of 28), Jesualdo went to Ferrara to remarry. In Ferrara, where madrigale was flourishing under the influence of Lutzasko Lutzaski, who was active at the court, Jesualdo came to life in this city and published four volumes of madrigales in rapid succession. These collections, while following the style of the time, are works that express the intense emotion typical of him, making full use of bold harmonies such as chromatic progressions and dissonances, and are, along with the works of Monteverdi of the same period, representative of the end of the 16th century as a collection of madrigales. This disc includes the 3rd & 4th collections, following the previous release (HAF-890507). You can listen to the exciting and beautiful performance by Lezard Florissant. King International
