Cardinals Music sings a "40-voice motet" in Tallis Latin & English! Androux Curwood, a master of English ancient music who has been a member of the Tallis Scholars, the Orlando Consort, and the Oxford Camerata, and is currently the Director of Music at St. Paul's Cathedral. And Cardinals Music, an a capella group founded in 1989 and known for its extensive study and practice of the English Renaissance. Following William Byrd's church music collection, which won the Gramophone Award for Record of theYear, the first (CDA 67548) of which won the Gramophone Award for Best Old Music, Thomas Tallis' (c.1505-1585) church music collection is the current new central project of Cardinals Music.The latest volume of Thomas Tallis sung by Cardinals Music is a collection of motets centered around Tallis' masterpiece, "Other than Thyself (Spem in alium)," known as one of the largest works in Renaissance music. The motet is sung by eight groups of five voices (soprano, alto, tenor, baritone, and bass), for a total of 40 voices, and is sung by Amy Haworth, Cecilia Osmond, Caroline Trevor, Patrick Kreig, Stephen Harold, Robert Rice, Robert McDonald, and other top-notch singers. The singers will be presented in their perfect voices. The inclusion of "Sing and glorify," in which Spem in alium is sung with the English text, is also a delight. Tokyo M-Plus
