Stephen Rice, a specialist in Renaissance music and a renowned musicologist, and the Brabant Ensemble, a group of students of Flemish music, sing a collection of Clemens Non Papa's religious works. Although the date of his death and his life are shrouded in mystery, Clemens Non Papa had a special place in the flourishing Flemish Music School, as he is said to have served as chief musician at the court of Holy Roman Emperor Karl V. Clemens Non Papa's music, which was unaffected by influences from other countries such as Italy, and which was devoted solely to Flanders, is indispensable for understanding the mainstream of Flemish music of the time.
