Tunde Adebimpe, co-founder, co-vocalist and primary songwriter of TV on the Radio. First solo album, Gee Black Bolts, co-produced with Wilder Zobie (Run the Jewels), released on Sub Pop. For the past 24 years, Tunde Adebimpe has been known as the co-founder, co-vocalist, and primary songwriter of TV On The Radio. This mostly black art-rock band overcame two decades of volatile cultural change to become one of the most beloved, enduring, and influential groups on the New York City rock scene in the early 2000s. Now, he is also a solo artist, releasing his first solo album, Thee Black Boltz. Tunde initially conceived the album in 2019, when TV On The Radio was on hiatus. Two years later, when the world had moved on from the Covid craze, he began writing words, illustrations, and ideas in notebooks, creating what he describes as "a mixtape of emotions that the music evokes. A kind of feeling map" was formed.This is how Tunde started most of his projects, and in 2011 he began to translate those ideas into music with the help of multi-instrumentalist Wilder Zoby (Run The Jewels), with whom he shares a studio in Los Angeles. Thee Black Boltz" is not a TV On The Radio album. However, the excitement of doing something on his own has given Tunde the same spark that he had during his early TV On The Radio days.
