Since their debut in 1986, the Goo Goo Dolls have released numerous mega-hit singles since the mid-90s after a decade of hard work and have continued to grow from "America's best-known unknown band" to "America's best American rock band" with their heart-pounding melody lines, modern rock sound, and melancholy lyrics. With their heartbreaking melodic lines, modern rock sound, and melancholy balladry, they are the very embodiment of the American rock dream and are still going strong today. Their breakthrough album was "Boy Named Goo", their fifth studio album released in 1995. Driven by the smash hit single "Name," the album sold over 2 million copies in the U.S. within a year of its release, and was a major catalyst for the Goo Goo Dolls' rise from "America's most famous unknown band" to "Best American Rock Band. It has been 30 years since the release date of March 14, 1995. To commemorate the 30th anniversary of the album's release, a deluxe edition of the album will be released on 2 CDs and 2 analog LPs.The two-disc analog set, containing 34 tracks, includes the original album on LP1 and previously unreleased material from a live performance in Las Vegas on March 10, 1996, on LP2. The Goo Goo Dolls have also announced that they will tour the U.S. with Dashboard Confessional on their "Summer Anthem Tour 2025" this summer. They are currently working on a new album, and their story continues.
