HIGHSCHOOL, the duo of Rory Trobbiani and Luke Scott from Melbourne, Australia, now based in London, attracted attention with their debut EP "Forever at Last" in 2021. Their musicality, a fusion of lo-fi, gothic and new wave from the 80s and 90s around 4AD, guitar rock reminiscent of THE STROKES and THE SMITHS, and a dance floor sound influenced by NEW ORDER, has been gaining popularity with the media and listeners alike. In 2024, the band will make its first live appearance in Japan. They have also supported CHVRCHES, Sam Fender, and NEWDAD, and their activities have only gained momentum. They have released their long-awaited self-titled debut album "HIGHSCHOOL". The album was produced in London and Melbourne with Ben Hillier (previously with BLUR and DEPECHE MODE) and Finn Bellingham (previously with Sam Akpro and SUNKEN).Fusing elements of post-punk, shoegaze, and alternative revival, the 12 songs on the album fully express their individuality, including the intoxicating "Dipped," "Sony Ericsson," which depicts romance in the digital age, and "149," with its light and dark dance sound. The cloudy sky from inside a car, a boring classroom where one does not fit in, a lonely town where one walks alone, and other depressing, dark, and nostalgic scenes float in the sound world of HIGHSCHOOL's debut album, a perfectly executed work that will charm you.
