BRAILOWSKY,ALEXANDER
Description:
Aristocratic Chopin by the once-in-a-generation master Brylawski. All RCA Chopin recordings from his heyday are now available, including many world premieres on CD. This is the first box set of all Chopin recordings by Alexander Brylovsky (1896-1976), one of the most famous Chopin players of the 20th century along with Rubinstein, for RCA, compiled on 8 CDs. Chopin was a composer with whom Brylovsky was deeply involved throughout his life. Brylawski was the first pianist in history to perform all 169 of Chopin's solo works in a complete cycle, not only in Paris, where Chopin spent the last years of his life, but also in New York, Brussels, Zurich, Mexico City, Buenos Aires, and Montevideo. At the Chopin Cycle in New York in 1938, he wrote: "There are many pianists who possess the extraordinary memory, physical stamina, and technical prowess necessary to accomplish these complete works. but only a few have the musicality to go along with those elements.Brylawski's Chopin recordings for RCA between 1942 and 1958 include two piano concertos (No. 1 with Steinberg and the RCA Victor Symphony and No. 2 with Munsch and the Boston Symphony), two collections of waltzes from 1942 and 1950 (14 waltzes), a complete set of operas (including Schumann's "Symphonic Exercises" in 1948, the coupling on the first LP), and the complete works of Schumann. ), two collections of waltzes (14 pieces) from 1942 and 1950, all of his Exercises (including Schumann's Symphonic Exercises from 1948, the coupling on the first LP), 24 Preludes (1951), Nocturnes (19 pieces, 1956-57), Piano Sonatas Nos. 2 and 3 (recorded in 1954), and the Piano Sonata No. 3 (recorded in 1954). (1954), and Ecossaise and Lullabies (1958). The box also includes Brylovsky's earliest Chopin recordings (including the first recording of Piano Sonata No. 3), made in London in 1938. In 1960, Brylawski gave the last Chopin cycle of his life in New York and Brussels, which marked the beginning of his Chopin recordings in stereo for Columbia, including the Waltzes and 24 Preludes, as well as the Mazurkas and Polonaises. Both the monaural recording for RCA and the stereo recording for Columbia have long been considered representative of Brylovsky's music, even after his death in 1976. Brylovsky's style, which draws on the tradition of salon music and speaks intimately to the audience through his transparent tone, stylish taste, and individual interpretation, is especially suited to Chopin's miniature waltzes and mazurkas, and his unique world has an aristocratic flavor that evokes nostalgia for the romanticism of the 19th century that has passed. The unique world has an aristocratic quality that evokes nostalgia for bygone 19th century romanticism, and it still shines brilliantly even today. The original analog masters and discs have been remastered at 24-bit/192kHz. Sony Music
