Description:

Release commemorating the 100th anniversary of Bernstein's birth. Leonard Bernstein (1918-1990), whose 100th birthday will be celebrated in 2018, was one of the greatest American conductors of the 20th century, as well as a composer, pianist, educator, and theorist, and a great "musician" who excelled in many fields of music. He was a great "musician" who left a legacy of outstanding achievement in many fields of music, including composer, pianist, educator, and theorist. In 2016, Sony Classical released "Bernstein - The Composer," a Grammy Award-winning box set of 25 CDs highlighting Bernstein as a composer, and in 2017, "Leonard Bernstein - The Remastered Edition," consisting of 100 CDs. In addition to the concertos, chamber music, and song accompaniments that Bernstein recorded for Columbia between 1956 and 1974, there is also a 1945-46 The CDs cover all of Pianist-Bernstein's recordings for both labels, including his SP recordings for RCA Red Seal from the very beginning of his career, from 1945-1946.Bernstein's influence as a conductor, composer, educator, and their inspiration can overshadow his skill as a pianist. But he always loved the piano, leading piano concertos, collaborating in chamber music, and accompanying singers he admired. The famous pianist Arthur Rubinstein also paid tribute to him as "the greatest pianist among conductors, the greatest conductor among composers, and the greatest composer among pianists. This album is a compilation of Bernstein's masterful performances as a pianist, and each disc is woven almost entirely from the original coupling of the first LP. In the concertos, Bernstein often performed the piano concertos by Beethoven (No. 1), Mozart (Nos. 15, 17, and 25, three hands), Ravel (two hands), and Shostakovich (No. 2), as well as playing in Gershwin's "Rhapsody in Blue," and in chamber music, he performed the Mozart Piano Quartet with the Juilliard String Quartet and the Mozart Piano Concerto for Orchestra and Orchestra with the Staatskapelle. chamber music includes Mozart's Piano Quartet with the Juilliard String Quartet and Schumann's Piano Quintet. Also included in the song accompaniment are performances with Christa Ludwig (Mahler, Brahms), Dietrich Fischer-Dieskau (Mahler), and Jenny Turrell. This is the best documentation of Bernstein as a pianist. Includes a 48-page all-color booklet with detailed recording data, new commentary, and artist photos.
