Following the 2015 release of "Inspiration," this is the second Sony Classical release by Metamorphosen Berlin, one of Berlin's best string orchestras. Metamorphosen Berlin, a string orchestra formed by young members of Berlin's most prestigious orchestras, presents its first Tchaikovsky album in 2010, featuring Deutsche Oper Berlin concertmaster Indira Koch and her husband, the Berlin-based cellist Wolfgang Emanuel Koch. The members are young and talented musicians from Germany, Switzerland, France, Spain, Hungary, Argentina, Venezuela, and Asia, including Korea and Japan. The beauty of the sound of the members' strings, which echo and envelop the beautiful cello tone played by Wolfgang Emanuel Schmidt, is a beautiful thing to listen to. This album features Tchaikovsky's "Serenade for Strings" and "Memories of Florence," as well as Schmidt's own arrangement of a small piece and a "Sentimental Waltz," making this an album worth listening to.The sound is impressive and profound, different from the Eastern European works of Dvorak and Suk in the previous album, and it is a reminder of the potential of this ensemble.
