Rising German pianist Stadtfeldt records Chopin! Up-and-coming German pianist Martin Stadtfeldt made a sensational debut with his independent recording of the "Goldberg Variations," the same as Gould. His first new work in about a year is a Chopin etude, which he recorded just this July (2016). This is the first Chopin album for Stadtfeldt, who has released mainly German repertoire such as Mozart, Beethoven, and Schumann since his acclaimed Bach album. The album is noteworthy for the fact that while playing the exercises in order, Stadt inserts 10 improvisations of his own compositions every few pieces. This bold idea breaks up the overall flow of Chopin's music, and succeeds in bringing out the big emotions. Stadtfeldt was born on October 19, 1980 in Koblenz, Germany.She began playing piano at the age of six and gave her first recital at the age of nine. 1997 she won the Rubinshtein Piano Competition, 2001 she won the Busoni International Piano Competition, 2002 she became the youngest and first German winner of the International Bach Competition, creating a sensation.
