Description:
The world in which my mind dwells is in my mind - this idea was the inspiration for the album "Heaven and Earth". The reality we experience is only a creation of our consciousness, but our consciousness creates reality based on our experiences. We are the creators of our own universe as well as the creations of our own universe. The "Earth" part of this work represents the world as I see it "outwardly. That is, the world in which I exist. The "Heaven" part represents the world I see "inwardly," the world that exists within me. Who am I and what choices will I make? The answer lies between these two worlds. ---Kamasi WashingtonA symbol of the golden age of a new generation of jazz musicians, Kamasi Washington continues to make a special mark, releasing his long-awaited second album "Heaven & Earth" on Friday, June 22, following his 2015 debut, "The Epic". 2.5 hours long, this album is the first of its kind to be released on the "Heaven & Earth" label. Earth" and "Heaven" discs. Through this work, Kamasi collides the real world with the cosmos and explores its psychology. Further exploring his own ideas about the structure of the world, the album explores his reflections on the current global chaos and his vision for the future. For the recording of this album, Kamasi convened his band, The Next Step, and The West Coast Get Down, the starting point for the rise of a new generation of jazz, at Henson Studios in Los Angeles to record the 16 songs that make up "Heaven & Earth". Composed and arranged by Kamasi, the album includes not only new original compositions, but also "Hubtones" by bebop legend Freddie Hubbard, as well as a cover of the theme song from the legendary "Dragon Fury" movie and a song by band member Ryan Porter. The album also features a host of musicians including Thundercat, Terrace Martin, Ronald Bruner Jr, Cameron Graves, Brandon Coleman, Miles Moseley, Patrice Quinn, Tony Austin, and many more.
