Rudolf Buchbinder's new Mozart album with the Staatskapelle Dresden is now available. Buchbinder's Mozart concertos were recorded with the Warsaw Chamber Orchestra in 1971, during his Telefunken period, with Nos. 9 and 27, which shows that they were an important part of his repertoire from the beginning. After that, he recorded No. 22 & No. 27 with Marriner & Academy Chamber Orchestra (EMI, 1991), and completed the monumental complete works (Calig ⇒ Profil) recorded live with the Vienna Symphony Orchestra. In the Mozart year of 2006, he recorded and released live recordings of six pieces (Nos. 14, 20, 22, 23, 24, and 25) with the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra, thus confirming his reputation as a "Mozart player" in both name and reality. This is his second Mozart concerto album, having recorded Nos. 23 and 25 on Sony Classical with Arnoncourt & Concentus Musiks, in which he played fortepiano. This performance was recorded live at a concert in the famous glass-fronted Volkswagen manufacturing plant in Dresden. Buchbinder's intimate knowledge of the piano works and the Staatskapelle Dresden's elegant tone, which values both tradition and innovation, create the most ideal image of Mozart.This combination also received high acclaim on a tour of Vienna, Munich, Baden-Baden, and Berlin in January of this year. A video product of this performance will be released by C Major, and the recording engineer, Philippe Nedel (who made many famous recordings at Teldec, then remastered Living Stereo SACD at Soundmirror in the US, and is currently the founder of b-sharp studio in Berlin, where he has made many recordings and remasters), has recorded the performance for CD.
