The new album by Jimone Kermes, the exotic diva of the baroque opera world, is Love. It is a compilation of songs and arias from the Baroque era that sing of love, the very foundation of humanity. Kermes studied in Leipzig, where she won prizes at various international competitions, and began her career in 1996 with a focus on German opera houses, soon becoming active in the period approach to repertoire ranging from ancient music to early Romanticism, winning acclaim for her voice and dramatic expressiveness. She has received critical acclaim for her voice and dramatic expression. She has recorded many solo albums for Sony Classical and Deutsche Harmonia Mundi, each with its own unique character, and has also participated in the complete recordings of "The Marriage of Figaro" and "Cosi fan tutte" by Kourlenzis. On this album, she presents a selection of early Baroque songs, madrigals, and operatic passages about love in narrative form. With an ensemble backing her, Kermes sings these songs with as much emotion as if they were one-person operas. Sony Music
