Adrian Sherwood Dubwise the entire album of the acclaimed collaboration "Reset"! Animal Collective's Noah Lennox, aka Panda Bear, and Peter Kember, aka Sonic Boom, have released a dub version of all the tracks from their critically acclaimed album "Reset" (released in 2022), reworked by UK dub legend Adrian Sherwood. Reset in Dub" is released on Domino. Adrian's crew includes Doug Wimbish of the Sugar Hill Gang, Skip McDonald, Prisoner, Alex White, Horseman, Mark Bandola, "Crucial" Tony, Russ Bad Things, Ivan "Seloman" Hussey, Matthew Smythe, and many more. The album was produced at On-U Sound Studios with a crew of renowned musicians. The import version will be released as a standard CD/LP. One of the key influences on "Reset" was Jamaican rock steady, and I thought it would be an interesting idea to bring it back to its tropical roots.I remember about 15 years ago when we played a festival in east London. There was no other band I wanted to see except The Slits. I watched from the back near the sound desk as they began to play on the outdoor stage. I did, and I instantly knew something was different. A shuddering staccato of echoes and kill switch edits filled the place. I immediately turned to the sound desk to see what the source of this amazing rhythmic landscape was. Adrian Sherwood, a friend told me. I made up my mind to go thank him later. - Peter Kember (Sonic Boom)I like empty shopping malls and beaches in winter. It's visually simple and clean, and the sound of the waves drowns out everything else. So I guess it's no surprise that I've always loved the sound of dub. Some of it is strong in my work, some not so much, but I think there are traces of it in every piece I've made. As a fan of Adrian's, I was very excited when Pete suggested that I ask him to do the dub for "Reset".But as production progressed, it became clear that what he was doing was more than just a dub version. Reset in Dub" is a recontextualization of the original version, filtered through the prism of "Reset. - Noah Lennox (Panda Bear)This album is a literal reset of "Reset" with me and the On-U Sound crew. I've always been a fan of Animal Collective and Spacemen 3, so when they suggested we work together, I liked the idea immediately and felt excited about the challenge. We discussed our influences, old records, and mixing techniques, and came up with a plan to keep the trippy fun, but add some impact and groove to the mix to make it super active for the "heads".
