Description:
Keefe Hartley is one of the most famous drummers in the British blues-rock scene. He joined Laurie Storm & The Hurricanes, a band formerly led by Ringo Starr on drums, and later worked with Art Woods, a leading member of the British R&B movement, and John Mayall's Bluesbreakers, before forming his own band, the Keefe Hartley Band. The band, featuring Miller Anderson (guitar/vocals), Gary Sain (bass), Mick Weaver (keyboards), and saxophonist Chris Mercer, released its first album, "Halfbreed," in 1969. The band appeared at the Woodstock festival in the same year, but the band's manager forbade the band to record it, so there are no recordings of it. The live recordings included here are from three months later, at the Essen Pop & Blues Festival in Grugahalle, Essen, in October 1969, and at the second edition of the same festival the following year, on April 25, 1970. These recordings have been lovingly edited and released for the first time in about 55 years(!). first time they have been released.Miller-Anderson describes it as "the best thing you will ever hear live."
