Symphony fans will be pleased to hear the latest recording of Petersen's rich and extensive works! Wilhelm Petersen (1890-1957) was a German composer of the same generation as Hindemith. Although he was oriented toward large-scale works, his name and works are not often heard today. His traditional style, which has nothing to do with the avant-garde, especially his precise counterpoint style, was inherited from Friedrich Klose, a pupil of Bruckner's. This is a new repertoire that will surely touch the hearts of fans of Austro-German symphonic music. Born in Athens, Greece, where his father was a clergyman, he returned to Germany the following year. He studied composition in Munich under Claus and Mottl. There are five symphonies in total, and No. 3 in C-sharp minor, premiered in 1934, is a large work in three movements of 60 minutes, in which various themes are constantly changing and developing: the impressive and songful themes compete with each other to reach the climax in the first movement, the familiar second movement, and the extremely joyful third movement. The conductor is Konstantin Trinx, who gave a passionate performance of Hans Lott's symphony and Prokofiev's opera "Angel of Fire". His magnificent interpretation of this work also draws deep emotion from an unknown work. King International
