Mahler's "The Wonderful Horns of a Child" by Damrau, also reputed for its duet numbers with the baritone, is back in the catalog. The album features the composer's original piano accompaniment for all 24 songs, including nine "Songs of a Young Day" and three songs from his early symphonies, all of which are said to be related to each other. The album is uniquely composed of four parts, each with a theme of "Childhood and Youth," "Separation and Farewell," "From Nature," and "Life and Death," and each theme is accompanied by six duet numbers in addition to the soprano and baritone solos. In addition to soprano and baritone solos, the album contains six duet numbers.Although there have been previous recordings of "horns with duets" by Ludwig & Berry, Schwarzkopf & Fischer-Dieskau, Popp & Weikle, Popp & A. Schmidt, Vermillion & Weikle, Iven & Müller-Brachmann, Erze & Follett, etc, duets to the "Songs of Youth" numbers ("Tough Imagination," "It's Over! It's over!) This is the first time that the duet has been extended to "Songs of Youth" ("Tough Imagination" and "Over and Out! I sought a "chamber music sound" with piano accompaniment," said baritone Paley, who added, "I know this project was not Mahler's original intention, but in many of the numbers we find a dialogue between different characters," and "Mahler himself, who was an excellent conductor, was also an excellent conductor, As a brilliant conductor, Mahler himself tried to incorporate new ideas into his compositions, as he did in his arrangements of Beethoven's symphonies and Schubert's string quartets.The booklet contains both German and English lyrics.
