Description:
Noriko Tsujiko’s First New Album in Three Years A soundscape of deep emotion dedicated to her beloved cat, PON Her sixth full-length album, this work further expands the musical range she has cultivated through both her solo work and collaborations. Dedicated to her beloved cat PON—whom she took in as a kitten and spent many years with despite PON’s congenital hearing loss—the album is filled with an abstract yet gentle and profound resonance that seems to embrace that loss. Her signature blend of electronics, romantic melodies, and sounds of unimaginable delicacy is fully on display here, and following her previous work *Crepuscule I & II*, this album has once again been crafted on a grand scale. In this work, she moves effortlessly between childlike innocence and a sense of mystery. Even in moments that sound simple on the surface, unexpected elements suddenly emerge, greatly expanding the listener’s imagination. In “BokuWaObaka,” multiple voices emerge, while “Knife of Yonder” begins with a gentle introduction reminiscent of Brian Eno, eventually unfolding into an exhilarating middle section. It culminates in a blues-tinged nuance, making it a magnificent 10-minute track. Additionally, “Kikoeru Pon” begins as a sincere ballad before gradually melting into a quiet, soothing field recording. The track also features the cat’s meow that inspired the album and track titles, quietly underscoring the personal nature of this work. Furthermore, her approach to technology is imbued with deep humanity. Rather than a cold, abstract work, it feels more like a colorful photo album, capturing her inner world and intuition in a surprisingly intimate way. Floating between pop, ambient, and abstract music, this emotionally resonant work offers listeners a moving experience full of new discoveries. Its rich emotional range allows us to sense a faint glimmer of hope amidst a chaotic world. Combining warmth and grandeur, this album strongly underscores that she is currently in a truly fulfilling phase of her artistic career.
