Description:

Fleming's Lucrezia! San Francisco Opera's Donizetti's "Lucrezia Borgia" with Japanese subtitles! Donizetti's masterpiece "Lucrezia Borgia" is now available in a state-of-the-art statue! This opera about Lucrezia Borgia (1480-1519), the historically renowned beauty of the Borgia family, premiered at La Scala in December 1833 with great success and was very popular in the 1830s and 1840s. Although it has not been performed as frequently in recent years, the opera has become a full-fledged challenge for the powerful prima donna. In the San Francisco production recorded here, Renée Fleming takes on the role of Lucrezia. She sings beautifully both the face of a bad woman and a bad wife, and the face of a mother who loves her son. Her son Gennaro, who was torn from Lucrezia soon after his birth, is a young tenor, Michael Fabiano, born in 1984. He was born in Montclair, New Jersey, USA.He has been active since his early twenties, making his Metropolitan Opera debut in January 2010 as Raffarella in Verdi's "Stiffelio" and then singing Edgardo in Donizetti's "Lucia" at the Paris Opera House in September and October 2013. Alfonso Vitaly Kovalyov was born in Cherkassy, Ukraine. He is a sought-after bass in Europe and the U.S. He made headlines when he sang as Wagner's "Die Walkure" as part of La Scala's 2010/2011 season opener. Riccardo Frizza conducts with a sharp and sharp musicality while keeping his finger on the pulse of Donizetti and Verdi. This was his first appearance at the San Francisco Opera. The production by veteran opera director John Pascoe was originally produced for the Washington National Opera. While centered around a gorgeous Hollywood-style aesthetic (young Fabiano's costume is open-chested), the production balances modern elements with it, tailoring a stage that is beautiful but also offers a glimpse of a sharp perspective. Happily, Japanese subtitles are included. King International
