Ennio Morricone, one of the world's greatest masters of film music, who composed the music for more than 500 feature films, including "New Cinema Paradise" and "The Pianist on the Sea," passed away on July 6, 2020 (local time) at the age of 91. This Blu-ray release features a digitally restored video recording of a concert that Morricone gave in 2004 with the Munich Radio Orchestra at the Philharmonie Gasthaig in Munich. Morricone was born in Rome in 1928, and in the 1960s he became a leading producer of macaroni westerns such as "Once Upon a Time in America" and "The Gunman in the Sunset" with film director Sergio Leone.In 1986, he won a Golden Globe for Best Composer for his work on Roland Joffe's "Mission," and in 1987, he made his Hollywood debut with "The Untouchables," for which he won a Grammy Award, followed by the worldwide hit "New Cinema Paradise" in 1989, which brought him instant recognition. In 1989, he became well-known for his worldwide hit "New Cinema Paradise". This concert, directed by Morricone's son, Giovanni Morricone, is a moving look back at Morricone's life in film music, with scenes from the movie shown in the middle of the concert, and is a must for Morricone fans.
