Marcelo Bratke, one of Brazil's greatest treasures! Marcelo Bratke, one of the most renowned pianists in Brazil! He will record all of Chopin's Preludes! Brazilian-born pianist Marcelo Bratke began studying piano at the age of 14. Because of his severe visual impairment, he was unable to read scores and developed his own method of musical learning based on auditory memory. Ten months after his first piano lesson, he made his debut with the São Paulo Symphony Orchestra and was honored by the São Paulo Critics Association. He also studied at the Juilliard School of Music in New York, where he won the first prize at the Tradate International Music Competition in Italy and the Carlos Gomez Award. His concert activities have taken him to the world's major concert halls, including Carnegie Hall, the Salzburg Festival, Queen Elizabeth Hall, and Suntory Hall. In 2008, Bratke founded Camerata Brasil, an orchestra formed by young musicians from impoverished areas of Brazilian society, which has performed hundreds of concerts in Brazil, Argentina, Japan, England, Serbia, and elsewhere.
