DREAMCARNATION is a project group that brings together members of bands such as THE LAST DETAIL - TIMELOCK, NOVEMBER, FOR ABSENT FRIENDS, etc. that emerged from the SI Music label and supported the Dutch melodic/pump rock scene in the 90's and 00's. This is the only album released by DREAMCARNATION on LaBraD'or Records in '00 and re-released by FREIA Music in '24 with newly remastered, rearranged songs and additional bonus tracks! This concept album was inspired by the 1987 work "Weaveworld" by British horror novelist Clive Barker, and was completed under the leadership of Julian Driessen (key) of THE LAST DETAIL~TIMELOCK, who composed/produced/performed on all the tracks. This is a concept album.Also from TIMELOCK were Ruud Stoker (vo), Bert de Bruijne (b), Martin Hendriks (g), Mike Boekhout (drs), who joined TIMELOCK in the late 00's, and Rob Rehorst (key), Karel Messemaker (vo) and Ed Wernke (drs) from NOVEMBER. Karel Messemaker (vo), Ed Wernke (drs), and guest wind/string players on some songs, resulting in a total of 39 musicians involved in this huge project. While tracing the orthodox melodic/pump rock line that the aforementioned bands had presented in the 90s, utilizing sparkling keyboard work and sweet melodies typical of the Netherlands, the album is also characterized by arrangements that prominently feature edgy guitars that seem to have been fed back from the burgeoning prog-metal scene at the time. This is a masterpiece that can be described as a compilation of Dutch melodic rock, and should be picked up by those who are fascinated by the SI Music label. The bonus track "Memorize", recorded in 2023 by Julian Driessen, Mike Boekhout, and David Guurink (b), is also included.
