The long-awaited latest recording by the piano duo of the Kodama sisters, Mari & Momo, is now available. The two sisters are performing Mozart and Poulenc concertos together with the Orchestre de la Suisse Romande conducted by Mari Kodama's husband, Kent Nagano, in a spectacular collaboration. The highlight of the album is a Mozart concerto for three pianos performed by Kent Nagano and Mari Kodama's daughter, Karin Kay Nagano, making this a truly amazing family album. The players note that it is "a dream come true. The concerto for three pianos is a heartwarming experience, with young Karin playing the leading role on the first piano, and her parents and aunt warmly watching over her as she plays hard, making for a beautiful ensemble. It is said that Mozart wrote this piece for the Countess Rhodron and her two daughters, and it is reminiscent of how it was performed for the first time. What you will hear is Poulenc's early masterpiece, the Concerto.The piece is full of Balinese gamelan music and French chansons, but Poulenc himself admits that it returns to the spirit of Mozart, including parodies and allusions to the "Coronation" concerto, and the coupling is natural. In addition to the technical aspects such as fast passages, the ensemble of both players and the orchestra is extremely difficult, but the three players united in a miraculous degree of perfection.
