Brass and Wagner fans rejoice! Hats off to the outstanding expressiveness of the brass instruments! New recordings by the virtuoso National Brass Ensemble are now available on SACD hybrid disc! Eun-Soon Kim, the hot conductor currently serving as Music Director of the San Francisco Opera, has released the album "Apotheosis" with the National Brass Ensemble, a group of virtuoso brass players. (1989-), Arturo Sandoval's (1949-) "Brass Fantasy", and Wagner's "Ring" (arranged by Timothy Higgins). This album includes two world premiere recordings. Bingham is a promising American composer who won the San Francisco Conservatory of Music and San Francisco Symphony Competition with his piece "Deified". The other is a brass fantasy by Sandoval, the pride of Cuba's brass legends. Both are difficult pieces that require outstanding technique, and the free and unrestricted expressiveness of this group will give them an overwhelming sound.The main piece is an excerpt from Wagner's Ring arranged by Higgins for brass. Timothy Higgins was the second trombonist of the Washington National Symphony Orchestra before his talent was discovered by Michael Tilson Thomas and he became the principal trombonist of the San Francisco Symphony in 2008. He has been principal trombonist of the San Francisco Symphony since 2008, and has also worked as an arranger of numerous works for brass. The "Ring" expresses the brass instruments' outstanding sense of color, and is a difficult piece that can only be performed by a virtuoso. Eun-Soon Kim brought out the best in the group's performance. This album is recommended not only for brass fans and Wagner fans, but also for orchestra fans. King International
