Description:
A collaborative CD series between Nagoya University of Arts and the Dutch publisher Hal Leonard MGB Group (formerly De Haske). The highlight is the title tune, "The Heart and Crown" by Otto M. Schwarz. Josina Walburgis of the German house of Löwenstein-Wertheim-Rochefort, destined to become a high-ranking abbess of a monastery, meets Count Heermann Frederik Hendrik Vandenbeerach, and the two are secretly married, love at first sight. When their marriage was discovered, her father took her back and detained her, but she was rescued by her husband, Hairman, and lived happily ever after. The tension of the rescue is skillfully expressed in this dramatic work, which is full of realism in the manner of Otto M. Schwarz. The album also includes eight other works, including Philip Spark's "The Unknown Journey," commissioned to celebrate the 125th anniversary of Kwansei Gakuin and the 60th anniversary of the Kwansei Gakuin University Band, and Gounod's "Soldier's Chorus" from the opera "Faust" arranged by Wil Van der Beek. This is an excellent album featuring many noteworthy works.
