This is the debut recording of the duo of Riedewei van der Vaart and Fred Jacobs, one of the finest theorbo & lute players of our time. This piece explores unusual music for two instruments composed by Matthew Locke and John Jenkins, who are generally known for their work with the Viol Consort. A suite from Matthew Locke's "To Our Friends," a collection of consort pieces for two voices, is coupled with a small piece by John Jenkins. Riedewij van der Vaart studied modern violin at the Amsterdam Conservatory before his passion for baroque violin led him to study with Sigiswald Kuijken in Brussels.He has played in prestigious ensembles such as Musica Antiqua Cologne, the Dutch Bach Society, and King's Consort, and has been concertmaster of Bach Plus, Il Gardelino, Anima Eterna, and Vox Luminis, and has been a member of the New Dutch Academy, Dutch Baroque, B' Rock, and is a founder of the New Dutch Academy, Holland Baroque, and B' Rock. Currently, as a duo with Fred Jacobs, they focus on a wide repertoire of baroque violin and theorbo. Tokyo M Plus
