As frontman of BAUHAUS, who pioneered early British gothic rock, singer PETER MURPHY became an icon of post-punk and dark wave from the early 1980s. After the band's dissolution, he released solo classics like "ALL NIGHT LONG" and "THE SWEETEST DROP," garnering cross-generational support within the alternative rock scenes of Europe and America. This album is a complete live recording of his 2000 performance at 4TH & B in San Diego. It is the third volume in the official live archive series 'PETER LIVE', released by his own label SILVER SHADE, launched in 2024. The lineup features a stellar cast: Kevin Haskins, Peter's longtime collaborator since the Bauhaus era, on drums; Eric Avery of Jane's Addiction on bass; Peter Distefano, currently active within the Psychedelic Furs circle, on guitar; Doug De Angelis on keyboards; and Peter himself playing acoustic guitar on some tracks.He crafts sets spanning his career by freely rearranging his extensive solo repertoire. The opening track "FINAL SOLUTION" builds tension with its industrial-tinged beats and noisy guitar. "THE SCARLET THING IN YOU" shines with the dark pop sensibility emblematic of his mid-period solo work. "SUBWAY" evokes the sensation of a subway tunnel with its low, muttered vocals and heavy groove. This dense dynamism continues throughout the first half. "I'LL FALL WITH YOUR KNIFE" unfolds with lyrical melodies and string-like synths, while "DISAPPEARING" and "CRYSTAL WRISTS" feature introspective vocals over laid-back tempos. and culminating in the surging energy of "MARLENE DIETRICH'S FAVOURITE POEM" and "A STRANGE KIND OF LOVE," this set traces the history of gothic and alternative music since BAUHAUS through its own distinct voice. This release offers a direct glimpse into the appeal of Peter Murphy's solo period within his live archive, delivering the gothic theatricality that has persisted since the Bauhaus era alongside the driving energy of a rock band, all amplified with the sonic intensity of the 2000s. A digipak CD featuring artwork adorned with his own self-portrait.
