While the oratorio is complete except for the overture (sinfonia), Savall performs as an overture another work by Vivaldi that is considered suitable for an oratorio because of its tonality and subject matter. The "Victory of Judita" is considered the spearhead of Vivaldi's vocal works, and the beauty of the arias, the choral parts, the concentrated drama of the recitative, and the richness of the instrumental writing all make it a work of the highest form. Savard has placed excellent singers in each role, and the soft, full orchestral sound creates a superb oratorio world. King International
