The Sixteen's latest release, "The Palestrina Project", is the latest in what has become a major series representing the Sixteen. Palestrina is one of the leading composers of Renaissance polyphony and one of the greatest liturgical music composers of all time. Harry Christophers has selected from the more than 100 masses left by Palestrina, who has continued to influence sacred music around the world. The program is comprised of three pieces from a series of motets based on the Old Testament "Song of Solomon," as well as related imnus, motets, and other works in this outstanding The project. Volume 9 focuses on the Mass "Doremifasola" in hexachord (hexachord), a scale that forms the basis of church melody in medieval and Renaissance music, and also spotlights the glorious music Palestrina wrote for St. John the Baptist and St. John the Evangelist.
