From the more than 100 masses left by Palestrina, Harry Christophers has chosen "Missa ave Regina Cherorum" as the main work of the "7th Collection", a paraphrase mass based on the Gregorian chant Antiphona for the Virgin Mary, "Measurable, Queen of Heaven", which was published in Venice in 1599, after the composer's death.
