Description:
With rare conductor Kazuki Yamada. The young and talented Kozyukhin releases Ravel & Gershwin concertos on SACD hybrid disc. Denis Kozyukhin is a promising Russian star who combines strong technique and rich expressive power. Kozyukhin studied at the Queen Sofia Conservatory in Madrid under Dmitri Bashkirov and Claudio Menell, and after winning the first prize at the Queen Elisabeth International Music Competition in 2010, he made his first visit to Japan in February 2011, Her concert was broadcast on NHK's "Classic Club" and became widely known to classical music fans in Japan. In September 2017, he performed with the NHK Symphony Orchestra under the baton of Paavo Järvi, and his magnificent performance of Rachmaninoff's Piano Concerto No. 4 (1941 version) attracted a great deal of attention. He is one of the most popular and talented pianists in Europe as of 2018, having appeared at a number of prominent music festivals, including the Verbier Festival, the Ruhr Piano Festival, and the Rheingau Festival. Her Pentatone releases of the Tchaikovsky and Grieg concertos (PTC5186566) and Brahms piano works (PTC5186568) have captivated audiences with their overwhelming power of expression and presence. This highly anticipated recording features Ravel and Gershwin's piano concertos with the Orchestre de la Suisse Romande, led by the rare conductor Kazuki Yamada! Ravel's two piano concertos are brilliantly played with a dazzling touch and Ravel's intelligent, classical clarity. Gershwin was also outstanding. Gershwin is best known for Rhapsody in Blue, which was used by Vancouver 2010 Olympic gold medalist Yoona Kim in her free skate during the 2009-2010 season. Like Rhapsody in Blue, it is a melodic symphonic jazz piece with a unique style. In addition to the excellence of the performances, you can enjoy the superb high quality sound recordings of multi-channel support recorded with DSD recording technology, recorded by the technical team of the PENTATONE label.
