Description:
The second Mahler concert by M. Albrecht and the Netherlands Philharmonic Orchestra is the Fourth Symphony with the beautiful Elizabeth Watts! The second Mahler concert by Marc Albrecht and the Netherlands Philharmonic Orchestra features Elizabeth Watts as the soloist in Symphony No. 4 in G major. The previous release, "Songs of the Earth" (PTC5186502), was a very dynamic and lively approach to a large work, and this Fourth Symphony is even better than expected, with Elisabeth Watts singing eloquently with an army of singers. Elizabeth Watts, soprano soloist, is one of the most promising British singers of the moment, and has won such prestigious awards as the Kathleen Ferrier Award (2006) and the Cardiff Singing Award (2007).The disc includes J.S. Bach's cantatas and arias (HMU807550) with the English Concert under the direction of Harry Bicket, which was highly acclaimed for its spacious and refined singing. The Pentatone label is proud to present this excellent recording by the technical team. ＜Marc Albrecht, conductor, is highly regarded for his interpretation of Wagner and R. Strauss as well as his commitment to contemporary music. He is also a regular guest conductor with some of Europe's most prestigious opera houses and orchestras.Early in his career, he spent several seasons at the opera houses of Hamburg and Dresden, and was named assistant to Claudio Abbado at the Gustav Mahler Jugendorchester in Vienna. From 2006 to 2011, he served as Artistic Director and Chief Conductor of the Strasbourg Philharmonic Orchestra. He is highly regarded among the conductors of his generation.
