Felix Weingartner, the founder of modern conducting, was born in 1863, roughly the same generation as Mahler. Weingartner, who was born in 1863, was roughly the same age as Mahler, and although he had an understanding of recording, he died in 1942, so all of his recordings are SP recordings, and only studio recordings can be heard in later generations, and Weingartner is often maligned as being too elegant without drama. The complete Brahms cycle is as famous as the complete Beethoven cycle as Weingartner's masterpiece, but it has been difficult to obtain for a long time. The fast tempo of the Brahms cycle is not a rejection of the Romantic interpretation and a warning against moderate music, but rather a confident and radical interpretation. The trumpet's strong playing and other parts are filled with strong will. It is a beautiful Brahms, as if clear water is flowing.This is an everlasting masterpiece that makes the most of the virtuosity of the London Philharmonic Orchestra, which had just been formed in the immensely popular city of London, and the London Symphony Orchestra, which has been a longtime friend of the city.
