ErikWestbergs Vokalensemble, a choir from Piteå in Norrbotten, northern Sweden, has been giving concerts and touring with a diverse program since its formation in 1993. The ensemble has also been active in recording, releasing such works as "Poesis" (SCD 1181), a suite for "chorus and jazz orchestra," "Sapmi" (SCD 1184), a collaboration with Sami artists, and "Papillon" (SCD 1187), a song from Alveen's mixed choral works. SCD 1187) on the Swedish Soiety Discofil label. The program for the new album "Longing" is based on the concept of "the art of words". Sadness, joy, anxiety, despair, expectation and longing. The poems and music of these pieces are imbued with the romantic feelings of human beings of all ages. Anton Webern's "Escape in a Light Little Boat" on a poem by Stefan Gheorghe.Fruits of Silence" by the Latvian Peteris Vasks on a poem by Mother Teresa. Three Romantic Choruses" by Jorgen Jersild, one of Denmark's most French-oriented composers, is sung more than any other choral work. The Swedish Romantic Ludvig Norman Ludvig Norman composed "Seven Songs" in Leipzig in 1851 on poems by Julius Mosen (1803-1867) and Carl Immermann (1796-1840). Alvin Vikman Alvin Vikman's "Views of the Four Seasons" was written for this vocal ensemble. He studied composition with Matthew Peterson, Jan Sandström, and Fredrik Högberg, and works in Luleå. 'The flowers fall. White robes dance in the wind. ......" The suite, titled "A View of the Four Seasons" in Japanese, is based on a poem taken from the Ogura Anthology of One Hundred Tanka Poems, which has always attracted him to Japanese poetry.Aineta Skold Agneta Skold's "Where Arrow Grass Connects the Blue Eye to the Sky" on a poem by Harry Mattinson (1904-1978). Laura Netzel Laura Netzel's "Butterflies and Roses" on a poem by Johann Ludwig Runeberg (1804-1877). Valborg Aulin Valborg Aulin's two romantic song cycles used poems from her contemporaries as texts. The works of Wieckman and the women composers are presented for the first time in a recording.
