Thielemann & Vienna Philharmonic Bruckner 11/Bruckner 11", a project by Thielemann & the Vienna Philharmonic for the 200th anniversary of Bruckner's birth in 2024, is the second installment of Bruckner 11/Bruckner 11: No. 1 (Vienna manuscript) recorded without audience at the Musikverein Vienna & No. 7 (Novak version) live video at the Salzburg Festival. Bruckner 11" is a project by Thielemann & Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra for the 200th anniversary of Bruckner's birth in 2024. The CDs of the 8th, 3rd, 4th, 2nd, and 5th symphonies have already been released by Sony Classical, and the C major label has started a complete collection of Bruckner's works in video format. Following the first release (806804(BD)/806708(DVD)) of the 5th Symphony and the "Study Symphonies" WAB99 in F minor and WAB100 in D minor, which were performed and recorded for the first time in the history of the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra, the second release we present here is a live recording of the 1st Symphony using the Vienna manuscript and the Salzburg Festival in August 2021. The second release is a combination of Bruckner's Symphony No. 1, which uses the Vienna manuscript, and No. 7, recorded live at the Salzburg Festival in August 2021. Bruckner's Symphony No. 1 can be roughly divided into the Linz manuscript and the Vienna manuscript.The Vienna manuscript was revised by the composer himself 25 years after its composition (later than the second draft of No. 8), and the sound of the Vienna manuscript is more reminiscent of late Romanticism than of an early work. The Viennese version sounds more like late Romanticism than an early work. Bruckner himself described the work as a "cheeky tomboy," and he was very attached to it. In the performance with the Staatskapelle Dresden (744704(BD)/744608(DVD)), he chose the "Linz Draft," which was the draft before the revision, so expectations are high for the performance with the Vienna Philharmonic. And now the Seventh. Thielemann is said to be one of the best Bruckner conductors of his time, and his conducting was as expected. This live performance of No. 7 was filmed at the Salzburg Festival, where Mahler's Rückert Lieder with Elena Galancha as soloist was also performed. (Thielemann reiterated the following about the series with the Vienna Philharmonic: "The Vienna Philharmonic's Bruckner cycle is a great success. I was lucky to be chosen to record the complete Bruckner cycle with the Vienna Philharmonic. It was like winning the lottery.Besides, Bruckner is special." King International
