This is the second album by the Swedish female hard rock trio GEMS. It is an energetic album that further refines the modern hard rock style presented in their debut album "Phoenix". The entire album is a straightforward and dynamic sound that is created by a trio of heavy guitar riffs, tight and propulsive drums, and the powerful vocals of Guernica Mancini, who has an overwhelming presence. From the opening track "Walls," the band's modern approach bursts forth with a powerful message, and the title track perfectly meshes with the heavy, sharp riffs and extended high tones that form the core of the band's sound. The title track, "Gravity," features Tommy Johansson, who adds an 80s-inspired melodic element to the song, further increasing its depth. The bluesy "Diamond In The Rough" and the catchy, radio-friendly "Live And Let Go" are also standouts, both of which are based on the traditional hard rock framework, but with modern, sophisticated arrangements.The ballad "Forgive And Forget" highlights the emotional singing, while the latter half of the album, "Firebird" and "Stars," demonstrate both speed and melody, and a wide variety of expressions are included in the 14 songs. This album, which is both energetic and catchy, proves that GEMS' sound has definitely evolved to the next level, and is an album that plays a central role in contemporary hard rock music.
