This is a collection of works by composers active in Ireland. Aina Boyle, who played a leading role in leading them, has been forgotten since her death in 1967, but recently, with the success of her next generation, Boyle's works are gradually being performed. Her songs, which blend traditional Irish folk song currents with sprechtgesang (shouting as if singing), are strange yet somehow nostalgic. Mezzo-soprano Irish Kerrigan is a popular Broadway vocalist who specializes in Irish folk songs and brecht. She sings with extreme presence while playing percussion on "I am Wind on Sea," which is also the album title. 2015 recording. (C)RS
