Jim Parker (1934-) is not a name you hear often, but he won the "British Academy Award for Best Television" and his gorgeous music is frequently used in movies, theater, and TV shows. This album features his most recent work (recorded in 2016). None of the pieces were written for television, but were written freely, and the pastoral atmosphere is impressive, with recorders and violins singing cheerfully together. Performers include the Solem Quartet, John Turner (recorder), Richard Simpson (oboe), and others. (C)RS
