Gardiner and Teatro La Fenice are well known for their New Year's Concert in 2010, which featured Dvořák and other joyful performances, but this 2013 concert is even more exciting than that. This 2013 performance will be even more exciting than the previous one. The opening piece of this year's concert was Tchaikovsky's Symphony No. 2. Gardiner will carefully perform this work, which is relatively rarely performed among Tchaikovsky's symphonies. And then Rossini. This piece, too, is rarely performed, but here, too, Gardiner delivers a delightful musical performance. The program is centered on works by Verdi, who celebrated the bicentennial of his birth. The soloists, the coloratura soprano Lancatore and the lyric tenor Pilgue, will provide a rich drama. Pilgue's smooth singing in "From Flower to Flower" is truly a tearjerker. The handsome dancer Bolle will perform a neat dance in "Toast". The beautiful decor of the theater and above all, Gardiner's happy face. This is a work of art on film. Naxos Japan
