Description:
Tommaso Giordani (1730-1806) was a popular composer in the 18th century who was successful in both opera and instrumental music. The flute concerto on this album is believed to have been written between 1765 and 1775, although the exact date of composition is unknown. The form is clearly based on the sonata style of the Classical period and conveys well the flutist's technique of the time, just before the soon-to-be blossoming Romanticism. The performance is on a replica of a mid-18th century C. Palanca instrument, and the pitch is tuned to approximately 420 Hz. Tokyo M-Plus
