Following the first volume (LDV14065), the Mitya String Quartet, first prize winners of the 2016 Jacopo Naples International Competition, gives a masterful performance! This is the second volume of this excellent project focusing on the "instrumental and chamber music composer" side of Donizetti, one of the greatest Italian opera composers of the first half of the 19th century, who produced many outstanding operas such as "Lucia di Lammermoor" and "The Wonderful Medicine of Love. The previous Volume 1 (LDV14065) was nominated for the ICMA (International Classical Music Awards) 2022 in the chamber music category and was selected as "Recommended Disc of the Month" by Record Art Overseas Disc REVIEW. Written for string quartet, one of the ultimate forms of chamber ensemble, each of Donizetti's chamber works stands out as much as his operas.
