This is a collection of chamber works by Peter Maxwell Davies (1934-2016), composed after his emigration to the Orkney Islands, which belong to Scotland, northeast of Great Britain. William Conway, once principal cellist of the Scottish Chamber Orchestra and founder and artistic director of the Hebrides Ensemble (Hebrides Ensemble), was dedicated by Maxwell Davies to various works, including the "Strathclyde Concerto No. 2". The Hebrides Ensemble, which has been one of Scotland's leading chamber music ensembles since its founding in 1991, is expected to provide momentum for a reappraisal of the chamber music of Maxwell Davies, with whom it has a close relationship.
