In addition to being a pianist, he also holds a doctorate in French literature and has an unusual background in teaching French at an American university. Although he dropped out of the Juilliard School, he studied piano under Moritz Rosenthal, who was a great disciple of Chopin and Liszt. He also has a deep knowledge of contemporary music, and is the author of "Schoenberg," and was in contact with Elliott Carter. Charles Rosen's Mozart, which is spun with a unique and strong touch so as not to neglect a single note, echoes through the gardens of the Nymphe, creating an acoustic effect that can only be obtained with this album.
