Description:
Bellini (1801-1835) composed the opera "The Sleepwalker" in 1831. When it was first performed on March 6 at the Teatro Carcarlo in Milan, it was a great success, thanks to the excellent singing of the singers and its lyrical story. The hero of the story is Amina, the daughter of a young landowner, Elvino, who is about to marry. She actually has a problem called "sleepwalking. As a result, one night she unknowingly goes to another man's room and temporarily almost rescinds their engagement. Theresa, who has a crush on Elvino, joins her, and the situation becomes even more confusing. The climax of the story is the song "Madness" sung by Amina in a dreamy state. The heroine sings a superb aria as she wobbles along the roof, and the audience goes wild. The whole story can be described as a rural poem that takes place in an idyllic Swiss mountain village. Hugo de Ana directed this beautiful story. The backgrounds are as beautiful as William Turner's paintings, and the video projection creates a mysterious atmosphere. The production was praised as "one of the most beautiful productions in recent years" for its precise use of these elements. The setting is also a tribute to Visconti's legendary 1955 project. It is a co-production with the Teatro Filarmonico in Verona. No complaints about the singers.Aside from the male voices, especially Elvino and veteran Alaimo of the popular Siragusa in Japan, one cannot take one's eyes off the fragile Amina of Cuban-born soprano Eglise Gutierrez.
