BELLS ATLAS is a psychedelic future-soul rock band from Oakland, California, whose experimental and thoughtful sound has captured the attention of early-career music listeners who are always looking for something new. Their new album "THE MYSTIC" is their latest release. Their floating, soulful rock sound, which melts the boundaries of genres in order to create the sound style they seek, is unique, brilliant, and not at all difficult to grasp. And now, with their new album, they have delved deep into the soulful elements of the band to explore both sound and storytelling. The impetus for this came from a new, more production-oriented songwriting process they stumbled upon. This included sampling sounds recorded on cell phones with poor sound quality. The improvisation and humor that emerged from this new approach, combined with the unique musical approach that BELLS ATLAS has always maintained, resulted in a cosmic sound that is highlighted by the live instrumentation of "THE MYSTIC". The cosmic sound world is also expressed in the science fiction-like worldview of the lyrics.Frontwoman Sandra Lawson-Ndu explains, "Prophets and skeptics are trying to make sense of what is mystical and what is objective." This work makes the listener think about "the possibility of the mystical. For example, do those who are moving the world in a different way understand it better? Are our perspectives somehow obstructed when it comes to the environment that surrounds us?
