Vivat, an independent label launched in 2013 by British classical music maestro Robert King and King's Consort, presents the first recording by the Dutch cellist Fiora de Hof since her acclaimed recording of Bach's Suite for Unaccompanied Cello (VIVAT107) in BBC Music Magazine and other publications, Fiora de Hof appears. Fiora de Hof, who has been trusted by such masters of ancient music as Robert King, Immerseur, and Gardiner, studied cello with Anner Bylsma in Amsterdam, and has been a baroque cellist as a principal player in European period orchestras and a modern cellist as a member of the She is one of the top cellists in the Netherlands, having been at the forefront of both period and modern cello playing, including 20 years as a cellist in the Schoenberg String Quartet. De Hoogh, who has been committed to chamber music on period instruments all his life, will perform Mendelssohn's two cello sonatas with Armenian pianist Mikael Baljan, who plays an 1847 Erard, in a completely new colorful setting.Also included is "Piano Trio No. 1" arranged in a version with the participation of the flute instead of the violin, with the addition of Marten Roth, a well-known Dutch flutist who, like de Hof, teaches at the Amsterdam Conservatory and other institutions.
