Description:

Sonic Youth's third album, originally released in 1986 on SST Records, is being reissued! This album marked the transition from their previous no-wave style to a larger scale alternative rock. Steve Shelly, the band's current drummer, joined the band on this album, and the band's trademark experimental, formless, cacophonous, and resonant noise guitars, backed by Steve's drums, are utilized to create a more pop-oriented sound. Lydia Lunch continues to contribute one song lyrically, as she did on the previous album. Pitchfork ranked the album at #31 on its list of "Top 100 Albums of the 1980s" and described EVOL as "the album that marked the true departure of Sonic Youth's musical evolution."
