Three and a half years after her highly acclaimed and smash hit previous album, Kate Le Bon's new album is now complete. Her seventh album, "Michelangelo Dying," is now available. Guest:John CaleGuided by pure emotion, Cate Le Bon's seventh album, Michelangelo Dying, is a subversion of the very essence of the album she was trying to make. The product of a heartache that consumed her entire body of work, it is an exorcism of sorts, as her emotions overrode her resistance to writing an album about love. What emerges is a beautifully iridescent attempt to photograph wounds before they heal (but also to scratch them in the process). It is worth noting that "Michelangelo Dying," which was produced between Hydra, Cardiff, London, and Los Angeles, was finished in the California desert, where much of the album's landscape and heartache exist in her mind. There is as much that is unspoken, or rather obscure, as that which is stated.Le Bon's rich, deeply textured arrangements were layered when she had no words and never tried to find them. Musically, there is a continuation and expansion of the sound (a machine with a heart) shaped by the last two albums ("Reward" in 2019 and "Pompeii" in 2022) in which Le Bon took the lead in performance and production. Additionally, there is the presence of John Cale. The album was produced with longtime collaborator Samur Khouja.
